There are four topics that I think I could argue with very easily..
Gay Rights- I support gay rights because I think it is okay to love someone, regardless of gender. I think the government cannnot tell you who you can and cannot legally marry. This relates to me because I have a gay brother, who I find has to stand up for himself more than others.
Pro-Choice movement- Keeping a child is the Mother and Father of the baby's choice, not anyone elses. Personally, I think if abortions were to stop, people would still do them out of a medical office which is even more unsafe. The pro-choice movement relates to me because I know I would not beable to support a child at this time in my life.
Tuition for College- I think the tuition for College's should be lowered. Now days with more kids wanting to further their education, they should allow them to not worry about anything financially. This relates to me because I have to worry about school financially, more than I do about the work.
Tobacco Industry- The tobacco industry has been changing many laws including more non smoking areas, and raising the tax on tobacco in some states. I don't agree with this because with the tax going up, I spend over $40 a week on cigarettes.

I really like your topic on Tuittion. I think it would be a good topic for you to write about because you'r going through coollege and it's a problem that you have. :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of your topics. I think that topic two may be too general. Gay marriage would be good to go with or tuition for college :)

ReplyDeleteI am very supportive of gay rights. I agree with you that the government has no say in who you can love and legally marry. Although it is what it states in the bible, not everyone believes in it so why should they be put under the same set of rules?
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you on the tabacco industry topic. The reason they do all that is to try and make you quit smoking. So there could be your arguement for that one. They want you to do something but its your choice and we shouldnt have to pay more for what we decide to do.

ReplyDeleteQuit smoking!! :) In all seriousness, as a smoker you have a right to feel angry about the raise in prices but can you see the other side of the debate? I think you would be able to write from an interesting viewpoint here because most people will say the opposite.
I also really like the gay rights idea. What is your angle?
Gay Rights- Homosexuals should have the same rights as any other person vs. Homosexuals should not be allowed to marry the same sex.
ReplyDeleteThe government should not be allowed to tell somebody who they can and cannot marry. It is just morally wrong.
Pro-Choice movement- Every woman should have the right to choose if they want to keep the baby or not vs. all abortions should be made illegal.
Woman should be allowed to have an abortion if needed, If the government were to restrict this, I think home abortions would get out of hand.
Tuition for College- The prices for kids trying to further their education should go down vs. The schools need more money to support teachers and to have a good learning environment.
With prices going up for college, kids are now worrying more about financial aid, then they are about their schooling.
Tobacco Industry- The government needs to stop changing the tax on Tobacco, and where smokers can and cannot smoke vs. All smoking should be banned because it is bad for you.
If smoking were to be banned, It would seriously put a dent on our economy, I think the government should simply further education on the effects of smoking.
